St. Luke's Health–Lifepoint Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital

St. Luke’s Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation broke ground on July 8 on a freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the Springwoods Village area north of Houston. The 58,000-square-foot building will sit on the campus of St. Luke’s Health–Springwoods Village Hospital and is set to open in spring 2027.

Project Scope
The single-facility hospital holds 40 private rooms and the therapy gyms, ADL suites, and clinical space that inpatient rehab requires for stroke, brain-injury, and post-surgical recovery. Robins & Morton is the general contractor. It’s a joint venture between St. Luke’s Health, part of CommonSpirit, and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, which runs rehab hospitals through partnerships with local health systems.

Why It Matters
Greater Houston keeps adding acute-care beds, but dedicated inpatient rehab capacity hasn’t kept pace, and patients often wait for placement after a hospital stay. Putting a rehab hospital directly on an existing acute campus shortens that handoff. The joint-venture model, a health system paired with a rehab operator, has become the default way these facilities get built, and this one follows that pattern on ground the system already controls.
