One of metro Atlanta’s fastest-growing counties is getting a taller hospital. Northside Hospital Forsyth broke ground in April on a six-story patient tower and an expanded emergency department in Cumming, Georgia, a project meant to keep pace with Forsyth County’s rapid growth.
Project Scope
The tower adds 96 new patient rooms and a larger emergency department, along with a new lab, pharmacy, and expanded clinical and support services. The job covers more than 260,000 square feet of new construction plus about 57,000 square feet of renovations to existing space, and a parking deck with roughly 500 spaces. Completion is expected in 2028.
Why It Matters
Forsyth County has been one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, and health care capacity tends to lag rooftops by years. A bigger emergency department is the most immediate win, since ED crowding is where population growth hits a hospital first. Adding six stories of inpatient beds signals Northside expects demand to keep climbing well past the ribbon-cutting. It’s a smaller project than the billion-dollar campuses making headlines, but the driver is the same: people are moving in faster than beds are going up.
