A prominent corner in downtown Thiensville is trading a low-slung lot for housing and storefronts. Heimat Capital started site work in June 2026 on The Meridian, a $24 million mixed-use building at 301 N. Main St., steps from the Ozaukee Interurban Trail.
Project Scope
The Meridian brings 80 apartments over ground-floor retail. Berghammer Construction is the general contractor, with Kubala Washatko Architects on design and Pinnacle Engineering Group and Pierce Engineers on the engineering side. A ceremonial groundbreaking followed in mid-July, with the building rising through 2027.
Why It Matters
Small suburban downtowns like Thiensville are where a lot of the missing-middle housing debate actually plays out. Eighty units at a walkable intersection next to a rail-trail is the kind of infill that adds rooftops to support Main Street retail without the scale fights that stall bigger projects. Village boards across the Milwaukee suburbs are watching whether the retail leases up as fast as the apartments.
