Keller North America

Keller North America is the North American arm of geotechnical specialist Keller Group, headquartered in Hanover, Maryland. The firm designs and installs ground improvement, deep foundation and earth retention systems, and it is regularly brought in where soil or groundwater conditions determine whether a building can be founded at all. On the St. Regis Residences tower in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Keller used six-foot augers to mix native soils with cement 60 to 70 feet below grade, creating a low-permeability plug that let crews excavate roughly 40 feet down through saturated coastal soils on a barrier island. Services include deep soil mixing, jet grouting, shoring, underpinning and marine foundation work across the United States and Canada.

Keller North America operates as part of Keller Group, which describes itself as the world’s largest geotechnical specialty contractor, with offices in more than 40 countries across six continents. On its North America site, the company reports a footprint of roughly 5,500 projects, 10,000 people and 1,700 engineers.

Beyond the deep soil mixing and jet grouting work already noted, Keller’s published technique list spans grouting methods such as compaction grouting, permeation grouting and slab jacking; ground improvement approaches including vibro compaction, vibro replacement stone columns, dynamic compaction, rapid impact compaction and wick drains; deep foundation types such as micropiles, helical piles and drilled shafts; and earth retention work like soil nailing, sheet piles and diaphragm walls. Groundwater control services extend to ground freezing and slurry cutoff walls.

The company markets these solutions across sectors including coal combustion residuals management, mining, oil, gas and chemical facilities, power generation, and above-ground storage tanks, in addition to commercial, institutional, infrastructure and residential work.

Recent projects highlighted on the site include rapid design and mobilization for slope stabilization after a major landslide at Teton Pass, Wyoming; deep foundations and excavation support for Parcel 12, the first air-rights development over the Massachusetts Turnpike since the 1980s, which earned the 2025 DFI Outstanding Project Award; and deep foundation installation using wet techniques to overcome a high water table for the Centennial Wash Bridge Replacement on US 60 in Arizona.
