The Oklahoma City Thunder’s next home is taking shape downtown. Continental Coliseum, a $900 million, 750,000-square-foot arena, broke ground in March 2026 on the former Myriad Convention Center site and is scheduled to open by late summer 2028.
Project Scope
A Flintco-Mortenson joint venture is building the arena, with MANICA Architecture leading design and TVS as architect of record. Flintco previously built the Thunder’s current home, the Paycom Center, and downtown’s 50-story Devon Tower. The arena’s defining feature is a 360-degree glass curtain wall that opens interior concourses to the skyline.
Why It Matters
The financing is mostly public: about $850 million comes from Oklahoma City residents through penny sales-tax extensions and MAPS funding, with the Thunder’s ownership contributing $50 million. That structure ties the building to a broader downtown reinvestment plan, and it makes the arena a civic project as much as a sports venue.
