The detail behind the third-generation line is worth spelling out. Tom and Peg Giel began as a small family operation in 1950 and incorporated in 1974. The business expanded through the 1980s with their son. Edward B. Giel took over as president in 1989, and Candice Giel Brown now leads as the third generation. In January 2025 the company joined GarageCo, keeping its own name and Gibsonia base while extending its reach across the Pittsburgh area.

The operation runs more than 45 employees and a fleet of over 35 service vehicles. Crews are in-house; the company states plainly that it never subcontracts. It is licensed and insured, and sales estimates are free.

There is a physical showroom at 5799 Grubbs Road where doors, construction details, finishes and opener systems can be compared side by side before ordering. Staff walk through material choices there: steel for durability, wood for a traditional look, vinyl for low maintenance, aluminum and glass for contemporary elevations. Consultations cost nothing, and an online cost calculator produces a price range ahead of an appointment.

Commercial capability goes past the overhead doors named above. That line covers rolling steel and fire doors, sectional and high-speed doors, special-function doors, man doors, door operators, security shutters and grilles, gates and gate operators, and loading dock equipment. Manufacturer relationships include C.H.I. Overhead Doors, Amarr and Flexon.

Phone support for quotes, repairs and emergencies runs around the clock at 724-443-1437. Financing is available. So is a recurring maintenance program for homeowners who would rather schedule service than wait for a spring to break, along with a referral program and posted special offers.

The company is an active member of the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, and its leadership participates in Professional Women in Building and the Pitt Institute of Entrepreneurial Excellence.
