Newforma is a Manchester, N.H., software company that makes project information management tools for architects, engineers, contractors and building owners. Its products, led by Newforma Project Center and Konekt, tie together project files, email, submittals and RFIs so teams can find the record behind a decision. The company says it created the project information management category in 2004, and it counts about 4.5 million users and 20 million projects on its platforms. It’s owned by Ethos Capital and keeps an executive office in Boston. In October 2026 Newforma bought Toronto-based Lumi AI, whose tool answers plain-English questions about project records, and said it won’t sell Lumi to outside customers.
Three products, two deployment models. That is the shortest honest description of what a firm is choosing between when it evaluates Newforma.
Project Center is the original, and it runs on a firm’s own servers. Its modules are built around the problem of a project record scattered across email and file shares: Search Everything, Organize Project Email, Contract Administration, Document Control, Field Management and Share Files. Firms with an IT policy that keeps project data in-house tend to stay here.
Konekt is the cloud product and carries the longer module list. Packages, BIM Coordination, Action Items, File Manager, Communication Management, Aggregate Search, a 2D/3D viewer, Construction Administration, Document Control, Contract Change Management, a mobile companion app, and Data Analytics as a Service. The BIM coordination piece arrived by acquisition rather than being built in Manchester. Newforma bought Quebec-based BIM One in 2021, which brought BIM Track into the portfolio.
Constructex is the third, also cloud-hosted, and it is pointed at general contractors rather than designers. Its modules narrow to RFI and submittal management, document control, field management and file sharing.
Integration is where the practical evaluation usually happens, because few projects run on one platform. Newforma publishes a Procore Connector and claims that pushing RFIs and submittals through it saves up to 12 minutes per item. Whether that holds on a given job depends on how disciplined the upstream process already is, but the connector means the two systems are not an either-or choice.
Scale figures the company publishes: more than 500,000 users across more than 1,500 firms, 20 million projects, 24 million file transfers, 6 million submittals and a billion emails. It dates its category claim to 2004, saying it pioneered project information management that year.
Two things a buyer should check rather than assume. Newforma names no SOC 2 or ISO certification on its company or product pages, though it does maintain an information security section, so a firm with procurement requirements should request that documentation directly. And the site runs in English, French and German, which is a reasonable proxy for where support is concentrated.
