Lhoist North America

Lhoist North America produces high calcium lime, dolomitic lime, limestone, clay and industrial minerals from roughly 20 quarries and production plants and 45 distribution terminals across the United States and Canada, operating from a headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Contractors encounter its products in two places: lime for soil stabilization and subgrade treatment on earthwork jobs, and hydrated lime as an anti-strip additive in hot-mix asphalt. The company also supplies flux lime to steelmakers and reagents for water treatment and flue-gas cleaning, sold under brand names including Sorbacal, Proviacal and Asphacal. The business is a subsidiary of Belgium’s Lhoist Group, and on August 21, 2026 it was acquired by Martin Marietta Materials in a transaction that Martin Marietta says gives the combined company more than two billion tons of limestone reserves. Its 2025 gross sales were reported at $1.8 billion.

The parent group is older than most of the industries it supplies. Lhoist was founded in 1889 and remains family-owned and privately held, a structure the company says lets it invest across cycles rather than to a quarterly calendar. Group scale as published: more than 6,400 employees across 75-plus nationalities, operations in over 20 countries, 130-plus sites and terminals, two research and development centers and sales reach into more than 80 countries.

What that means at a jobsite is the second half of the offer. The company is explicit that supply alone is not the product: it says it works alongside customers where performance is measured, testing and questioning specifications, adapting them as site conditions change, and providing on-site support. For a contractor doing lime treatment on a subgrade, that is the difference between a delivery ticket and a supplier who will help resolve a failing proctor.

The four end uses the group names are water treated to drinking standards, steel performing under load, soils kept productive and stable, and industrial sites operating safely. Two R&D centers back the product range, and the company frames its value in terms of continuity: consistency in critical processes where small variations carry immediate consequences.

Stated company values are respect, integrity and courage, with a value proposition the group summarises as dependable by design and solution-driven. The North American arm operates from Fort Worth, Texas under the Lhoist North America name while drawing on group-wide technical resources.

The website carries a download center for technical documentation and a location search for finding the nearest plant or terminal, which is the practical starting point for a contractor pricing lime on a soil stabilization scope.
