Brothers Gardenscape

Tom is a 19 year old entrepreneur, recently relocated from his home in New Zealand. Although he currently lives in Brisbane, he has established his business in the Redlands and is looking to find a home in the southern end of the City. Growing up on the family dairy farm in Waikato, Tom worked daily beside his father, a tough but fair ‘old school’ farmer.

Contributing to the success of the family business from an early age helped Tom learn about farm management and the practical skills needed to run a cost-effective working dairy farm. He also learned about crop and pasture health and management; safe work practices and how to build fences, operate heavy machinery and complete basic plumbing, landscaping and drainage work to keep systems running. Work on the farm needed to be done – rain, hail or shine and Tom credits this for helping him develop a strong work ethic and an understanding of the benefits of hard work.

The business Tom built now sits across two catchments. Brothers Gardenscape works out of Brisbane and the Redlands and takes projects across South East Queensland, residential and commercial alike.

Scope runs from concept to completion, then keeps going. Garden design comes first, followed by the split most landscapers work to: softscape work with plants and soil, hardscape work with built structures and surfaces, plus turfing and mulching. On the gardening side the team handles mowing, hedging, pruning and general maintenance, which is what keeps a finished build looking like the drawing a year later.

Jobs move through three stages. Consultation and design come first, then planning and preparation covering logistics, site prep and material selection, then execution and installation. The company commits to agreed timeframes rather than open-ended schedules and stays available for maintenance and follow-up once a build is signed off.

In 2025 the business was recognised with a Redlands Business Award. It prioritises eco-friendly methods and materials, and its working knowledge of Brisbane’s climate and soil conditions feeds directly into plant selection and layout decisions.
