Veterans Contracting was started by Kyle Conte, who took a set of non-negotiables out of military service and built a roofing company around them: arrive when you said you would, leave the site cleaner than you found it, communicate at every step, and stand behind the work without being asked. The company operates as a division of Battalion Brands and now runs crews in Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois and Georgia.

The Raleigh office sits at 1325 Kirkland Rd., Suite 109, and covers Wake and Johnston counties. Central North Carolina takes a particular kind of beating – spring and summer thunderstorms carrying hail and high wind, plus the rain and gusts that push inland off the coast. Much of that damage is invisible from the ground, so the crew documents every roof with detailed photos and measurements before recommending anything. If a repair will do, that is what they say.

Scope runs past single-family work. The company handles commercial systems in TPO, EPDM, metal, modified bitumen and built-up roofing, and takes on HOAs, apartment communities and condos, where one dedicated project manager per job keeps residents from getting five different answers. Siding and gutters round out the exterior work, with the gutter side framed around drainage – most fascia and foundation trouble starts there.

Most single-family replacements finish in 24 to 48 hours. Financing runs through Service Finance Company, with approvals typically returned in minutes so the schedule does not slip. The company holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status and offers a long-term warranty on the work.

Community involvement is part of how the company describes itself: it has provided roofs through Owens Corning’s Roof Deployment Project, and its founder runs the Veterans Contracting Initiative, a nonprofit.
