Jamestown

Jamestown is a design-focused, vertically integrated real estate investment manager founded in 1983, with dual headquarters in Atlanta and Cologne and eleven offices worldwide. Vertical integration is unusual at this scale: development and construction, architecture and design, retail leasing, food and beverage curation and marketing all sit in-house rather than being contracted out, which is how the firm has repositioned large industrial and civic buildings into mixed-use districts. Chelsea Market, Ponce City Market, Industry City and Ghirardelli Square are the best-known examples. Jamestown has owned One Times Square since 1997 and completed a roughly $500 million redevelopment of the tower in January 2026, adding a wraparound observation deck and a museum. The firm reported $13.9 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.

Twelve disciplines sit inside the firm rather than outside it: acquisitions, asset management, capital markets, compliance and risk management, creative and marketing, development and construction, investor relations, legal, property management, retail leasing, sustainability, and tax services. That is what vertical integration means in practice here, and it is the difference between owning a building and being able to change what it is for.

Capital is raised through six vehicles — the Premier Property Fund, German Retail Funds, Jamestown Invest, Jamestown Latin America, Jamestown Europe and Timberland Funds — across office, retail and residential product types.

The project list stretches beyond the famous conversions. Alongside Chelsea Market, Industry City, Ponce City Market and Ghirardelli Square sit the Innovation and Design Buildings in Boston and Lisbon and Groot Handelsgebouw in Rotterdam. Charleston is a newer front: the firm’s press page tracks a design district taking shape there and a Schumacher showroom opening.

Around Ponce City Market the leasing activity is granular and constant — Sage expanding its office lease in the building next door, a sushi restaurant and a ramen and tsukemen shop announced for the central food hall — while at Colony Square a cave-themed Oaxacan restaurant has opened. The developer has also been linked to North Point Mall and its NHL ambitions, and in Times Square a candy-themed immersive attraction is opening in the portfolio.

Enquiries are split by purpose, with separate addresses for acquisitions in the United States and in Europe, Jamestown Latin America, leasing, media, new business and new technology partners. The Atlanta office answers on 404.387.5041.
