U.S. Steel

U.S. Steel has been a backbone of American heavy industry since 1901. The Pittsburgh-based producer makes flat-rolled steel, tubular products, and specialty grades for construction, energy, automotive, and manufacturing. In mid-2026 the company approved a roughly $475 million quench-and-tempering line at its Fairfield Tubular Operations in Alabama, expanding capacity for the heat-treated pipe used in oil and gas drilling. As metals prices stay high and tariffs keep imported steel expensive, U.S. Steel has leaned into domestic production. It remains one of the largest integrated steelmakers in North America.
