GENESYS Systems Integrator

GENESYS Systems Integrator engineers, builds and installs automated production systems for manufacturers. Founded in 1997 and headquartered at 3210 E 85th Street in Kansas City, Missouri, with a second office in Farmington Hills, Michigan, the firm handles design, fabrication, procurement, installation and ongoing technical support for automated assembly and material-handling lines. It has worked internationally since 1998 and maintains a Mexico presence. GENESYS engineered, manufactured and installed the production system at Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, the first Ford plant built without traditional in-floor conveyor lines, where automated guided vehicles move trucks between stations instead. The firm took the Association of Union Constructors’ Thomas J. Reynolds safety award in 2018 for a third consecutive year. Not to be confused with the customer-experience software company of a similar name.

The fabrication floor is what separates GENESYS from a controls house. The firm runs a 200,000 square foot fabrication facility and builds components that do not yet exist – inventing and machining proprietary equipment rather than assembling a system out of catalogue parts.

That capability stretches across six industries: automotive and transportation, building products, food and beverage, heavy industrial, recycling and waste-to-energy, and general mass production. Work takes three forms – building new assembly lines, fabricating one-off machinery, and re-engineering existing systems for greater throughput.

The company positions itself as neither a conventional systems integrator nor an EPC firm, on the grounds that the first group specifies and the second manages, while GENESYS does the engineering, the fabrication and the installation itself.

A Mexico presence supports automakers building capacity south of the border, with a dedicated contact address for Mexican capital projects.

GENESYS publishes client letters in a section it calls Letters in the Lobby, with correspondence from Owens Corning, Volvo Powertrain and Philips.

After handover, support splits into two named lines – Parts and Components, and Technical Assistance – which matters on a production system where a single unavailable part can idle a line.

The company tagline is create, innovate, integrate, problem solved, which reads like marketing until you set it against the fabrication floor and the international installation record dating to 1998.
