The scope line on this company’s site is unusually clear about where it stops: everything under the roof, but no roofing. Inside that boundary the range is wide – kitchen and bathroom remodels, attic and basement conversions, drywall repair with dust control, framing, doors, windows, stairs, decks, flooring and paint.

Rates are published rather than quoted on request. General handyman labor runs at an hourly rate of $114 with a 90-minute minimum, rounded down to the nearest quarter hour. Bathtub refinishing is a flat job with a three-year warranty on the finish. Cabinets are built in Chicago and sold as a discounted kitchen package carrying a five-year warranty, while bathroom remodels are backed for ten years.

The crew is small and named on the site. Leo Jimenez, ten years with the company, works in flooring, tile and drywall, holds EPA certification for lead paint removal, oversees bathroom remodels and trains new hires. Vincent Pimentel covers plumbing and has built a niche managing jobs for owners who are not local. Dan Shirley, the owner, came into the trade through a stint doing handyman work in California and a Chicago loft converted into artist space, and now concentrates on quality assurance and staff development. He also teaches a handyman skills class at Pullman Tech Workshop, a nonprofit running workforce training in the historic Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Same-day completion is the stated norm for most repairs, with technicians carrying a full tool array on the truck rather than booking a return trip, and emergency availability runs outside the Monday-to-Friday office hours. Reach extends past the city limits, described as Gurnee to Gary and the Gold Coast to Glen Ellyn. Recent project write-ups come from Hyde Park and Avondale; posted reviews come from Bucktown, Lincoln Park and Roscoe Village.

Recurring specialty jobs include water damage restoration, cabinet painting, deck repair, backsplash tile and Venetian plaster.
