Modine Manufacturing Company

Modine Manufacturing Company is a thermal management manufacturer founded in 1916 and headquartered at 1500 De Koven Avenue in Racine, Wisconsin. Listed on the NYSE as MOD, it employs more than 13,000 people worldwide and supplies heating, cooling and ventilation equipment for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings alongside its vehicular thermal business. Its Airedale by Modine brand covers data center cooling and school HVAC, including the ClassMate and SchoolMate classroom heat pump lines. In August 2026 Modine and the Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 6,061 ventilation fans in Airedale classroom units in the United States after 11 fires and at least $2.7 million in reported property damage, with no injuries.

Behind the Airedale name sits a portfolio of brands, each aimed at a different thermal problem. Jetson by Modine builds modular water- and air-cooled chillers, condensing units and heat pumps for commercial and industrial buildings. Scott Springfield by Modine engineers custom air handling units for institutional, healthcare and pharmaceutical environments. CDI by Modine makes desiccant dehumidification systems for spaces where humidity has to be held precisely, including lithium battery manufacturing, hospital surgical suites and food processing. AbsolutAire by Modine has produced direct- and indirect-fired make-up air, heating and ventilation systems since 1992 for paint spray and bake lines, warehousing, commercial kitchens and water and wastewater treatment. L.B. White by Modine covers forced-air, radiant, convection and electric heaters plus evaporative cooling for agriculture, construction sites, special events and greenhouses.

Under its own name, Modine sells unit heaters and high-efficiency condensing systems for warehouses, garages, workshops and greenhouses through Modine HVAC, along with HVAC/R coils, industrial process and refrigeration coolers, and corrosion-resistant performance coatings for equipment in coastal and industrial settings. The vehicular side spans agriculture, construction and mining machinery, on-highway commercial vehicles, and battery and powertrain cooling for electric and hydrogen fuel cell platforms under the EVantage brand. Stationary power generation cooling modules and third-party thermal testing services complete the range.

The history behind that spread is specific. Arthur B. Modine founded the company in Racine in 1916 and reworked the radiator; the first gas-fired heater followed in 1918 and the Turbotube for the Ford Model T in 1925. A 15,000-square-foot wind tunnel for in-application thermal testing went up in 1940. European expansion came through the 1993 acquisition of Langerer & Reich, and the Airedale data center cooling business was acquired in 2005. Recent additions include Jetson in 2023, Scott Springfield in 2024, and Absolute Aire, L.B. White and CDI in 2025. Modine reports more than 2,000 patents granted over the past century.
