Great Bison Heating & Cooling

Upgrading heating equipment starts with an assessment of the home’s heat loss, available fuel, and ventilation pathways. During Furnace Installation, crews verify clearances, venting standards, gas or electrical connections, and thermostat communication before firing up the system. They also test combustion and adjust airflow to match the home’s layout, which reduces uneven temperatures. For hydronic systems, careful Boiler Installation includes sizing the appliance to the radiator or baseboard output, bleeding air from loops, and checking expansion tank performance. Great Bison Heating & Cooling coordinates related tasks like water heater installation or condensate routing so the mechanical room remains organized and safe. In colder regions such as Newfane, NY, many homeowners schedule work during shoulder seasons to avoid downtime when temperatures swing. Permitting, utility coordination, and disposal of old equipment are planned alongside delivery timelines. After startup, documenting model numbers, filter sizes, and maintenance intervals helps owners track service and plan for replacement parts over the life of the system.

Great Bison is a five-person shop out of Newfane, and the size is the point. Andy Newman started the company in 2016 and still runs calls alongside four technicians, which is why the same names tend to show up on repeat visits to a house in Olcott or Appleton.

The equipment lineup tells you what kind of work they take. Great Bison is the area’s exclusive Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer, so ductless mini-splits and heat-pump retrofits are core work rather than an afterthought — useful in the older Niagara County housing stock where adding ductwork is expensive or impossible. Alongside the Mitsubishi line they install Amana furnaces and air conditioners and Laars boilers, which covers the forced-air and hydronic sides of a market where a lot of homes still run baseboard or radiators.

Coverage runs across northern Niagara County and into the lakeshore towns: Newfane, Lockport, Wilson, Barker, Youngstown, Lewiston, Wheatfield, North Tonawanda, Niagara Falls and Medina. Regular hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with emergency response available outside those windows — the long weekday window matters more than it sounds when a furnace quits at five o’clock in January.

Two things are worth knowing before you call. First, the workmanship warranty runs two years on Great Bison’s own labor, which is a separate promise from whatever the manufacturer covers on the equipment itself. Second, financing is available through GoodLeap for replacement work, and veterans and first responders get 10% off.

The company’s own site credits its FAQ content to Andy Newman by name, and cites a 5-star Google rating across more than 460 reviews as of June 2026. For a shop that opened in 2016, that volume suggests steady residential replacement and service work rather than storm-chasing or one-off installs.

Practical note for anyone comparing quotes: Great Bison publishes no street address, only Newfane, NY 14108, and the mobile header on the site shows a placeholder phone number next to the working one. Use 716-534-8484.
