Zachry Group

Zachry Group is a San Antonio engineering and construction organization built around turnkey delivery: engineering, EPC, construction, maintenance, turnarounds and fabrication under one roof, largely self-performed. Its core markets are energy, chemicals, power, refining, LNG, manufacturing, industrial and food and agricultural processing, and it operates from 35 offices and more than 400 work locations nationwide plus Calgary and Metro Manila. Affiliated brands include Zachry Engineering, JVIC, Trillium, Zachry Nuclear, Madison and Numerical. Past work includes constructability planning, electrical and instrumentation design and direct-hire in-plant construction for ExxonMobil’s 650 kTA polyethylene expansion in Beaumont, Texas. Zachry Construction is half of the joint venture with Traylor Bros. delivering Oklahoma’s $408 million US-70 Roosevelt Bridge replacement.

Zachry Group has been operating since 1924 and runs its home office at 527 Logwood Avenue on San Antonio’s south side. The business is built around turnkey engineering, construction, maintenance, turnaround and fabrication services for the energy, chemicals, power, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

The service list is broad for a single organization: engineering, procurement, full EPC project delivery, digital project delivery, maintenance, turnarounds, fabrication, nuclear analysis, analysis and simulation, and a sustainability solutions practice aimed at decarbonization work.

Industries served include energy transition work in hydrogen and derivatives, carbon capture and renewable fuels and chemicals; thermal and nuclear power; chemicals; refining; LNG; general industrial; food and beverage; and agricultural processing.

Several specialist companies operate under the group. Zachry Engineering Corporation handles design from offices in San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi, Charlotte, Downers Grove in Illinois, Hammond in Indiana, Omaha and Metro Manila. JVIC runs specialty industrial services out of Pasadena, Corpus Christi and Freeport in Texas, Geismar in Louisiana, Salt Lake City and Burlington in Washington. Zachry Nuclear and Numerical work from Charlotte, Cary, Stonington in Connecticut, Richland in Washington and Idaho Falls. Trillium, the digital project delivery arm, is based in Calgary. Fabrication happens in Pasadena, Texas, and craft hiring runs through a Gulf Coast staffing center in the same city.

Safety is organized around three strands: process safety, defined safety programs and behavioral safety. Zachry is an active participant in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs, which recognizes sites with injury and illness rates well below their industry averages, and it runs an internal recognition program called Heart of Zachry for job sites with strong records.

The self-perform execution model is the reason the company gives for that safety posture: employing craft directly means taking direct responsibility for their training. Its stated values run to thinking long term, caring about people, honoring commitments and leaving things better than they were found.
