The Walsh Group

The Walsh Group is one of the largest building and civil construction firms in the United States, operating as Walsh Construction and Archer Western. Founded in Chicago in 1898 and still family-owned, it ranks among ENR’s top general contractors and works across transportation, water, healthcare, commercial and industrial markets. Walsh self-performs concrete, steel and earthwork on much of its work, a depth that suits heavy civil jobs. In 2026 a Walsh and Soletanche Bachy joint venture was named EPC contractor for the $669 million first phase of the Delaware Container Terminal at Edgemoor. The firm is headquartered in Chicago and builds nationwide.
