Straight Edge Builders

Straight Edge Builders is a licensed general contractor serving Redlands and the surrounding Inland Empire. The company specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, home additions, ADU construction, and complete home renovations. They focus on quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and delivering custom remodeling solutions that fit each homeowner’s needs.

Two owners split the company between them along a clean line. Mitch handles build quality and quality control; Dustin runs project management and client communication. Both are on site rather than dispatching the work, and the crew is small and in-house — the company says it does not hand projects to subcontractors.

Unusually for a remodeler, it publishes its own schedule expectations rather than leaving them to the sales conversation. Bathrooms are put at two to four weeks, kitchens at four to eight weeks, home additions at two to four months, full-home remodels at three to six months, and ADUs at four to eight months. Those are the numbers to hold a contract against.

Permitting is handled in-house across all five cities it serves, inspections included, and that extends to the zoning work on additions and ADU projects — the part of a backyard-unit build that most often stalls.

Day-to-day site conduct is spelled out too. Floors are protected, dust zones are sealed off, and the jobsite is cleaned before crews leave each day. Crews typically work 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, with the office open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

ADUs are handled end to end: design, engineering, utility connections, insulation and code compliance, across attached units, detached units, garage conversions and backyard cottages. On the heavier end, the company has taken on two-story garage conversions and work on historic landmark properties in Redlands, which is a different proposition from a cosmetic kitchen job. Full-home remodels run through the systems as well — electrical, plumbing, complete house repipes, door and window replacement and built-ins.

Credentials are published rather than implied. The company holds California General Contractor B license #1075936 and is bonded and insured, with coverage it describes as protecting the homeowner, the home and the workers on it. Both workmanship warranties and the manufacturer warranties on installed materials apply, with terms reviewed per project.

Financing runs through partner lenders Hearth and Acorn. Consultations are free and can be done in the home or virtually, and are followed by an itemized estimate rather than a single lump figure.

Locally, the owners are active in the Chamber of Commerce and the Redlands Rotary Club, and materials are sourced from suppliers in Redlands and Yucaipa.
