Rob Lacher owns the company and says plainly that when you hire Lacher Construction, you get him personally on your project. He built his first home in the Harrisburg area in 2011. Before that he worked as a certified public accountant at a regional tax accounting firm, which is not the usual route into homebuilding and shows up in how the business handles money: the stated aim is to nail down budgets before contracts are signed, and he explains item costs directly rather than handing a client a lump-sum allowance sheet.

The process is broken into six named phases: Discovery, Finances, Getting Underway, Building Continues, Finishing Touches and Move In. A cost estimate is presented during Discovery, with design details adjusted as the number firms up. Financing sits with the client’s own bank; Lacher provides whatever documentation the lender needs rather than arranging the loan.

Site supervision is the part worth comparing against other builders. An operations manager is on site every day, the owner oversees each project alongside that manager, clients get daily updates through building software and a weekly update directly from the owner, and the job closes with a final walkthrough where the team goes through the house and answers questions.

Scope covers the full build rather than a shell: permitting and lot clearing, footers, foundation and framing, windows, fascia and soffit, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and gas, roofing, exterior siding, drainage including French drains, chimneys, insulation and drywall, then lighting, trim, paint, hardwoods and kitchens, finishing with landscaping, gutters, touch-ups and final cleanup.

The office is at 1421 Monte Sano Ave. in Augusta. Alongside Augusta, Evans, Grovetown and North Augusta, the company also names Graniteville as part of its working area.
