Juneau Construction Company

Juneau Construction Company is an Atlanta-based construction manager founded in 1997 by Les and Nancy Juneau, with more than 250 employees and additional offices in Coral Gables and Tampa, Florida. The firm works across Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama, concentrating on higher education, multifamily and student housing, historic restoration and mixed-use projects. Services run from preconstruction and construction management through virtual design and construction. Juneau is the general contractor on the University of Tampa’s 833-bed residence hall at 110 South Boulevard, an 11-storey public-private partnership delivered with developer RISE and architect Niles Bolton Associates. Other completed work includes Mako Hall at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort, and 320 West Mag in Auburn, Alabama.

Juneau marked 25 years in business with a banner across its own site, and describes itself as a woman-owned construction management firm. Quality is measured internally in awards: more than 85 awards of construction excellence to date. The firm has also been named number two on a Best Places to Work list.

The service mix goes beyond straight construction management. Preconstruction, construction management and virtual design and construction are joined by a distinct historic restoration and renovation line, and the firm’s stated aim is producing predictable outcomes for owners rather than simply low numbers.

Student housing and higher education carry much of the portfolio. Recent and current projects include Hub Clemson, Hub Tallahassee, Hub Athens on Dougherty, Hub Knoxville on 18th Street, Rambler Clemson, oLiv Tampa, oLiv Columbia, the Lever Hall renovation at Clemson, and a new residence hall at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. On the multifamily and mixed-use side the list runs to One Twenty Brickell Residences and ONE Park Tower in Miami, One Park in Sarasota, and The Stevedore in Tampa.

What owners say about the firm is more specific than the usual endorsement. The architectural project manager at Cooper Carry, writing about the Georgia Tech West Campus Dining Commons, credited Juneau’s collaborative approach and attention to detail with delivering the addition. TriCounty Technical College, on its Student Success Center, noted the team worked within extremely tight spaces while keeping the campus community safe, met or exceeded each phase and milestone, and held the budget, which it called the most challenging part. RangeWater Real Estate, on Cortland at The Battery Atlanta, said Juneau kept the concerns of both the developer and the Atlanta Braves in view while holding standards, schedule and budget across three apartment buildings.
