Hueber-Breuer Construction Co. is the largest continuously operating family-owned general construction and construction management firm in Central New York, founded in Syracuse in 1872. The company works across higher education, healthcare, municipal and commercial projects, with a long record on SUNY and private college campuses where phased work around the academic calendar is the norm. Hueber-Breuer holds the general construction contract on University Hall at Binghamton University, a four-story, 90,000-square-foot classroom and lecture building carrying 33 classrooms plus 300-seat and 180-seat lecture halls. The $60 million project broke ground in July 2025 and is now targeting a spring 2028 opening.

Now run by the fifth and sixth generations of the family, Hueber-Breuer has been building in Central New York since 1872 and pairs traditional general construction with construction management, development and design-build – a delivery method it has practiced for more than three decades. The firm carries particular depth in historic preservation, having renovated and expanded landmarks such as the Landmark Theatre, the Dietz Lantern Factory and the Moyer Carriage Lofts in and around Syracuse. Its project work reaches across healthcare, higher education, municipal, commercial and housing clients, and a long history on college campuses means it is used to phasing work around the academic calendar. That combination of longevity and adaptive-reuse craft is unusual for a firm of its size in the region.
