Austin Commercial is one of the largest general contractors in the United States, operating as part of employee-owned Austin Industries and headquartered in Dallas. The firm builds aviation, healthcare, commercial, and advanced-technology projects across the country, and it’s known for large, complex jobs on tight urban sites. Austin Commercial is leading construction of the new Arrivals and Departures Hall at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, a centerpiece of the airport’s multibillion-dollar expansion. Founded in 1918, the company runs work through offices across the South and Southwest and self-performs concrete and other core trades on many of its projects.

Austin Commercial is the commercial-building arm of Austin Industries, a Dallas company whose roots go back to the 1918 founding of Austin Bridge Company; the commercial division itself was established in 1975. What makes the firm unusual among large general contractors is its ownership. Austin Industries completed a full transition to employee ownership in 2000 and today counts more than 7,000 employee-owners across its operating companies.
