Westland Electric 2014 Ltd.

Westland Electric are commercial, residential electricians assisting in electrical work like electrical repairs, wiring and other electrical services across Calgary, Okotoks, Cochrane, High River, Black Diamond, Strathmore, Carstairs, Sundre, Olds, Didsbury, Airdrie, Beiseker, Acme, Chestermere & the surrounding areas.

Westland Electric was formed in 1997 and is privately owned by the Henderson family. From its beginning, Westland has expanded its resources and expertise to encompass the full scope of electrical power distribution and control, instrumentation and lighting installations and maintenance.

Westland also has significant skill and experience with fire alarm and security installations, repairs and maintenance. Westland is also proud to offer project design and turn-key installations in select industries.

Formed in 1997 and privately held by the Henderson family, Westland Electric runs from Unit P, 1007 55 Ave NE in Calgary and works a band of southern Alberta that reaches from Sundre and Olds in the north down through Okotoks, Black Diamond and High River, east to Strathmore and Beiseker.

What separates this from a residential electrical shop is the range of contract sizes and structures. Completed projects across the greater Calgary economic region run from $5,000 to $1,100,000, and the company bids under four different arrangements: design-build, stipulated price, unit price or time and materials, and construction management. A contractor comfortable in all four is bidding against general contractors and owners’ representatives, not just homeowners.

The project record shows the spread. On the residential end, Westland wired a custom home of more than 20,000 square feet, coordinating with the general contractor and the complementary trades. On the institutional end, it carried out the electrical renovation of the High River Library’s Centennial-built structure after the 2013 flood — the kind of work that is half restoration, half bringing an old building up to current code. Industrial clients have included Annadale and Standen’s, where the scope covered control systems as well as power.

Disaster restoration is a stated specialisation across industrial, commercial and residential work, which in southern Alberta means flood and fire. That pairs with 24/7 emergency response for outages and urgent repairs; typical residential installations are quoted at one to two days.

Green energy is a broader category here than efficient lighting. The company lists fuel cell, solar, wind and water power generation alongside EV charger installation and lighting retrofits — generation as well as consumption.

Safety performance is stated plainly and is checkable: the company’s record has earned an extended discount on its WCB premiums, and it says it is working toward COR certification. For any owner putting a project out to tender in Alberta, WCB standing and COR status are the two things to confirm in writing before award.

One note: the registered name is Westland Electric 2014 Ltd., which reflects a later re-incorporation rather than the 1997 start of the business. The site also carries two different phone numbers across its pages — the number on the contact page is the one to use.
