Ceco’s Chicago work runs out of a Loop office at 10 S. LaSalle Street under the Tribco Construction Services name, a wholly owned Ceco subsidiary the company calls the longest standing structural concrete contractor in downtown Chicago. Tribco was founded in 1975 and is led locally by VP and general manager Derek Patton. Its crews have contributed to hospitals, apartment buildings, office buildings and hotels across the city, plus remodeling work at the Washington Library, Cook County Jail Division 10 and Navy Pier.

The parent company goes back much further. In 1912 a 26-year-old mechanical engineer named C. Louis Meyer started the Concrete Engineering Company in Omaha, Nebraska, at first only selling reinforcing bar and clay tile. Meyer’s real interest was a steel forming system that could be stripped and reused instead of left in the structure, and the Meyer Steelform he developed became the foundation of the business. Ceco dates the invention of its reusable steel pan form to 1915. The company now runs from a Kansas City, Missouri headquarters and reports more than 200 projects and roughly 20 million square feet of concrete work each year.

Scope is negotiable rather than fixed. A general contractor that self-performs concrete may buy only deck formwork; other clients take a broader package covering full formwork, structural materials placement, survey, layout and as-built services, hoisting and material conveyance, permanent safety installation and logistics management. Ceco also takes design-assist assignments that pair budget, plan and schedule work with construction, and complete structural design-build. Its preconstruction menu includes embodied carbon assistance and pan construction offered as both a structural and an architectural option.

Formwork and equipment are Ceco-owned and inventoried nationally in regional yards, which the company ties to quicker project starts and crews already trained on the systems they will use. Proprietary Barrier Screen Systems handle perimeter protection on the jobsite. Ceco holds National Women’s Business Enterprise Certification through WBENC and carries engineering licensure in most states. It sits inside the Construction Services Group of The Heico Companies, a privately held American holding company.
