Lunda Construction is a bridge and heavy civil contractor founded in 1938 and headquartered in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. A subsidiary of Tutor Perini, the firm specializes in bridge construction and replacement, including movable and vertical lift spans, railroad structures and complex marine foundation work across the upper Midwest. Lunda booked three infrastructure wins in ten days in July 2026: the Roberts Street Railroad Bridge Replacement over the Mississippi River in St. Paul, where it will remove a 113-year-old vertical lift truss and replace it with a 215-foot rolling bascule span, plus a $33.4 million Minnesota DOT contract on Highway 77 and low bid on a $28.6 million Highway 243 project.

Four divisions sit under the Lunda name, and only one of them is bridges. Railroad, Pipeline and Specialty Services round out the business, with the projects portfolio also covering dams and rail and mass transit work.

The Specialty Services Division is the least obvious of the four and probably the most interesting. It serves clients in paper, manufacturing, foundries, utilities and mining — industries where construction happens inside a plant that still needs to run. The listed capabilities are rigging, optical alignment, equipment and machinery setting, grouting, steel erection, dam and marine work, piling, earth retention systems, concrete foundations and flat work, building remodels, new construction and maintenance. Optical alignment and machinery setting in particular are not general-contractor skills; they are the kind of work a mill calls in when a paper machine or a press line has to land within thousandths of an inch.

Water crossings are the specialty within the specialty. Lunda states it has completed thousands of civil infrastructure projects nationwide, including over 100 major river crossings. The portfolio backs it: the I-74 Mississippi River Bridge between Bettendorf, Iowa and Moline, Illinois at $426 million, the Saint Croix Crossing at Stillwater, Minnesota at $340 million, and the Fincantieri Marinette Ship Lift in Marinette, Wisconsin at $37 million.
