George Harms Construction has been building New Jersey’s hard infrastructure since 1960. The Farmingdale-based heavy-civil contractor takes on jobs most firms won’t touch, from deep foundations and bridges to tunnels and marine work, running more than $100 million in projects a year on a bonding capacity north of $700 million. The company drew the initial construction package for NJ Transit’s Raritan River Bridge replacement, part of the agency’s post-Sandy resilience program. Family-run and privately held, it has built a reputation across the Mid-Atlantic for complex, self-performed civil work where schedule and ground conditions leave little room for error.
