Zimmerman Architectural Studios

Zimmerman Architectural Studios traces its roots to 1906, when Peter Brust, Richard Phillip and Julius Heimerl opened a Milwaukee practice. Brust’s sons added engineering in 1945. Gary Zimmerman took over as president in 1973, and the firm became Zimmerman Design Group in 1981 before taking its current name. It’s marking 120 years in 2026 from its studio on West Mt. Vernon Avenue. Work spans healthcare, higher education, civic, corporate and religious buildings, plus interiors. In Waukesha, Zimmerman designed the four-story secure courts tower on Moreland Boulevard that was Phase I of the county’s $150 million courthouse overhaul, with Gilbane as builder. Phase II, the gut of the 1959 courthouse, just set its final beam.
