Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is a global architecture, engineering, and urban-design firm founded in Chicago in 1936. SOM helped define the modern skyscraper and has delivered some of the world’s tallest and most recognized towers, along with airports, campuses, and civic buildings. The firm pairs architecture with in-house structural and MEP engineering, which lets it take on technically demanding work that spans design and construction.
