Robert A.M. Stern Architects, known as RAMSA, is a New York firm founded in 1969 whose traditional, masonry-clad towers helped define the modern luxury residential market. The practice works across residential, commercial, academic and civic projects, but its condominiums on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and beyond are what buyers and developers chase. RAMSA designed 242 East 71st Street, a 22-story condominium rising in Lenox Hill, in its familiar limestone-and-brick vocabulary. With a few hundred architects and a portfolio of college campuses, libraries and towers, RAMSA remains one of the most recognizable names in American traditional architecture.
