Myefski Architects

Myefski Architects is a Chicago architecture practice led by John Myefski, working across residential, retail, hospitality and cultural projects in the United States and internationally. The firm’s portfolio runs from luxury retail interiors for Chanel, Christian Dior and Van Cleef & Arpels to restaurant work including RPM Seafood and Aba, alongside multifamily buildings and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá. That mix means the office moves between high-finish interior detailing and full building delivery rather than specialising in one. Myefski serves as architect of record on The Legacy in downtown Evanston, Illinois, the Horizon Realty Group tower designed by Pappageorge Haymes that broke ground in April 2026.

The practice works from the Wrigley Building on North Michigan Avenue, looking over the Chicago River, with a second studio several hundred miles north in Marquette, Michigan. It is an unusual pairing, putting a downtown Chicago office and an Upper Peninsula one under the same firm.

Milestones are marked publicly. The office celebrated thirty years of work in November 2024 and thirty-one the following October, and used the thirty-year mark to elevate two team members to partner.

Six service lines describe what the firm actually sells: architectural design, interior architecture, adaptive reuse, sustainable design, planning and interior design. Adaptive reuse and interior architecture sitting alongside full architectural design is what lets the office move between fitting out a tenant space and delivering a whole building, and the built work reflects that range.

Student and multifamily housing forms a substantial part of the portfolio. Hub on Campus in Ann Arbor and The Standard in Madison are both purpose-built student projects in university towns, a sector where delivery dates are non-negotiable because leases start when the academic year does.

The firm holds licences in a number of states, and its awards page lists per-project merit and gold awards alongside honourable mentions rather than firm-wide honours, which is the more meaningful way to read an architecture practice’s record: it shows which buildings the profession thought worked.
