Michael Maltzan Architecture

Michael Maltzan Architecture is a Los Angeles studio working on cultural, civic, institutional and housing projects, operating from Hyperion Avenue in the Silver Lake area. The practice is principal-led and is best known for civic and cultural buildings and for a sustained body of supportive and affordable housing work in Los Angeles. In late 2024 the Toledo Museum of Art selected the firm to lead the gallery architecture for Transformation 2027, the first comprehensive reinstallation of the museum’s presentation in more than four decades. It works there alongside Once-Future Office and Studio Zewde. The firm publishes neither a founding year nor a headcount, so both fields are left empty here rather than estimated.
