McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is a Greenville, South Carolina design firm tracing its origins to 1955, practicing across healthcare, K-12 and higher education, civic and commercial work throughout the Southeast. Healthcare is among its deepest markets. The firm designed the $275 million patient tower expansion at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia, which broke ground in February 2026: a seven-story, roughly 218,000-square-foot tower with about 31,300 square feet of renovation, four new operating rooms, deliberate shell space for future beds, and a central utility plant sized for the fully developed campus rather than the current phase.

McMillan Pazdan Smith works from Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, West Columbia and Charleston in South Carolina; Asheville and Charlotte in North Carolina; Atlanta, Augusta and Columbus in Georgia; and Huntsville, Alabama. The Greenville studio sits at 400 Augusta Street, Suite 200. Work outside the home states is performed through the firm’s exclusive affiliate, MPS Architects, P.C., which is set up to practice in fifteen more states, from Arkansas and California to New York and Pennsylvania.

The service list starts earlier and ends later than architecture itself. Master planning covers development and comprehensive planning, district and precinct planning, and usability or feasibility studies, with site assessment, concept options, design charrettes and initial budgetary numbers built into discovery. Facility assessment adds structural, site and function reviews, building system analysis and an ADA code compliance review for owners weighing adaptive reuse against replacement.

Construction contract administration is something the firm singles out about itself.
