Beyer Blinder Belle

Beyer Blinder Belle is a New York architecture, planning and preservation firm founded in 1968 by John Belle, Richard Blinder and Sam Beyer. The practice built its reputation on adaptive reuse and historic restoration, including the restoration of Grand Central Terminal and Ellis Island, and it now works across housing, higher education, cultural, civic and commercial projects with offices in New York, Washington and Boston. Preservation experience turns out to be unusually useful on modern housing work, where the hard problems are almost always existing conditions and constrained sites. The firm is the architect for 35-18 Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens, a 560-unit, 498,000-square-foot mixed-use building filed by BedRock Real Estate Partners and L+M Development Partners.
