Rottet Studio

Lauren Rottet founded Rottet Studio in 2008 after two decades designing corporate interiors at other firms. The practice runs out of Houston with offices in Los Angeles and New York, is WBE-certified, and counts more than 90 million square feet of built work: corporate headquarters, hotels, residential towers and ship interiors. Interior Design magazine has ranked it among the top 100 design giants for most of the last decade. Rottet is handling interiors on the Goldman Sachs campus at NorthEnd in Dallas, the bank’s new regional headquarters north of downtown. The firm also designs its own furniture and lighting collection, which is rarer among interiors practices than the marketing in this sector suggests.

Credentials are the detail most directory entries leave out. Lauren Rottet is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Fellow of the International Interior Design Association, holds NCARB certification, and is a registered architect in both New York and Texas, dual licensure that matters when an interior architecture package has to be sealed locally. She is Founding Principal and President, and the practice describes itself as an international architecture and interior design firm.

The client list runs wider than the corporate work usually cited. Alongside financial and legal names such as the New York Stock Exchange, Paul Hastings, Kirkland & Ellis and Northwestern Mutual sit media and consumer clients including Disney, Viacom, Comcast, United Talent Agency and Target, plus a hospitality roster spanning Four Seasons, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Starwood. Work is organized across corporate, hospitality, residential and maritime sectors, and the practice extends into furniture and product design and art curation rather than stopping at interiors.

Recognition is long-running rather than recent: the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1997, Designer of the Year from Interiors Magazine in 1994, four gold medals at Best of NeoCon, a Chicago Athenaeum award, the Greater Houston Women Hall of Fame in 2014, and an Interior Design Best of Year award in 2017. The studio also claims a place among the three most admired design firms in the world.
