The Kansas City Chiefs picked the firm that will ride herd on their new home. On July 16 the team named Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell as owner’s representative for a $300 million headquarters and practice facility in Olathe, Kansas.
What the owner’s rep does
Burns & McDonnell will pair with CAA ICON to coordinate architects, engineers, contractors and planners across design and construction. Naming that team before a general contractor or a public rendering tells you the Chiefs want firm cost and schedule control from day one. The campus will sit on roughly 155 acres near College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road, with design and construction details promised in the coming weeks and an opening set before the 2031 season.
Part of a bigger move
The practice campus is one piece of a franchise relocation that pulls the Chiefs out of Missouri and into Kansas, anchored by a roughly $3 billion new stadium. Modern NFL practice facilities have grown into recruiting tools in their own right, folding in sports science, recovery suites and player-family space. Doing the headquarters and the stadium in one state consolidates the team’s footprint and its bargaining position. Track the build on Exchange’s Chiefs Olathe campus listing.
