Arch-Con Corporation is a Houston-based general contractor founded in 2000 that works across commercial, industrial, retail and corporate interior construction in the major Texas markets. The firm has grown into one of the larger independent contractors in Houston, handling ground-up development, tenant finish-out and large-scale sitework. Arch-Con is building the multi-tenant retail components and sitework at Texas Heritage Marketplace, NewQuest’s $400 million, 165-acre power center at Interstate 10 and Texas Heritage Parkway in Waller County. That project involves roughly 800,000 square feet of phased retail and restaurant space delivered while adjacent anchors open, a sequencing problem that has become the firm’s specialty in fast-growing suburban corridors west of Houston.
Eight divisions, each with its own numbers
Arch-Con organizes the business by building type, and publishes a completed-work tally for each one. The Office Division has finished 30 office projects covering 1.5 million square feet. Industrial is the volume leader at more than 150 projects, 32 million square feet and $1.8 billion. Retail has delivered over 150 projects. Corporate Interiors has completed 165 projects totaling 1.45 million square feet. Healthcare has managed construction of nearly 200 facilities. Hospitality accounts for more than 3.3 million square feet across 4,640 hotel keys. The multifamily portfolio has surpassed $1.1 billion, roughly 6,000 units and 9 million square feet. The Community Division delivers preconstruction, design, construction and project management.
That last one matters for owners still in the planning stage. It means the relationship can start before drawings are complete rather than at bid day, which is where a general contractor can still influence cost.
Three Texas offices
The Houston office is at 190 T C Jester Blvd., Suite 200, Houston, TX 77007, reachable at 713-533-1900. Dallas operates from 8235 Douglas Ave., Suite 401, Dallas, TX 75225 at 214-420-7900. Austin is at 1701 Directors Blvd., Suite 390, Austin, TX 78744 at 512-506-8000. That footprint puts crews inside the three largest Texas metro construction markets, and the recent project list reflects it: a SpringHill Suites by Marriott topping out in New Braunfels, Silo Springs breaking ground in West Houston, and Artis Montrose starting at the former Disco Kroger site.
The pitch, in the company’s own framing
Arch-Con leads with the line that construction is hard and its job is to make it easy. Underneath the slogan the stated method is specific: anticipate problems before they surface, and use cost-efficient technology to stay current. The company also maintains a published safety culture page and a core values page, which is a reasonable place for a prospective client or subcontractor to start reading before a first meeting.
Leadership development appears to be internal rather than lateral-hire driven — the firm recently promoted Matt Norwood to vice president leading a division, and publishes its leadership roster openly.
For developers, the practical takeaway is that a single contractor can carry a mixed-use program across retail, multifamily, hospitality and corporate interior scopes without reassembling a new team for each component.
