Janicki Industries Great Falls Manufacturing Campus

Janicki Industries picked Great Falls, Montana over the established aerospace clusters, and that choice is most of what makes this project worth watching. The Washington-based Tier 1 supplier announced the site in June 2026 and broke ground the same month on an $800 million, 1.6-million-square-foot manufacturing campus, with construction starting in July and the first phase due to open by the end of 2027.

Project Scope

The company is purchasing 180 acres of shovel-ready land inside Great Falls AgriTech Park. The campus is planned to grow toward roughly 2 million square feet of production space over a decade, built out in phases behind demand. Janicki expects 1,000 jobs within five years and more than 2,000 at full buildout, numbers that land differently in a city of about 60,000 than they would in Seattle or Wichita.

The work Janicki does drives the building requirements. The company specializes in advanced composites, precision machining and large-scale metal fabrication, which means autoclave and out-of-autoclave curing capacity, very large tooling bays, tight thermal and humidity control across big volumes, and heavy floor loading for five-axis machining centers. Those are not generic tilt-up industrial shells. Phase one is sized to relieve capacity constraints at the company’s existing Skagit County facilities, where aerospace, defense and space program demand has outrun the floor space available.

Why It Matters

Aerospace supply-chain reshoring has mostly landed where the supply chain already is. Janicki is doing the opposite, betting that a low-cost interior-West market with available land, available power and a shovel-ready industrial park beats proximity to existing aerospace labor. The bet is on the land and the schedule, and it assumes the workforce can be trained locally rather than recruited.

For Montana it’s a category change. The state’s industrial construction pipeline runs to energy, agriculture processing and data centers. An $800 million advanced-manufacturing campus is a different kind of job, requiring trades and controls expertise that Great Falls has not had to supply at this scale before. Watching whether the local labor market can carry a build this size is the more interesting story over the next eighteen months.
