Project Scope
The 268,000-square-foot medical center will hold 120 private inpatient beds, 25 emergency department treatment rooms and six operating rooms. It replaces the aging Cape Canaveral Hospital operated by Health First, consolidating modern surgical and emergency capacity on a purpose-built campus.
Why It Matters
Hospital construction is running at a generational high nationwide, and Florida’s fast-growing Space Coast is part of the reason. Replacing a dated facility with an all-private-room building reflects where healthcare design has moved: infection control and single-patient rooms as the baseline rather than the upgrade. For a growing coastal county, adding modern emergency and surgical capacity is the kind of institutional work still moving while parts of the commercial market stall.
