A $15 billion Google data center is headed to New Florence, in Montgomery County, Missouri, about 20 miles west of Warrenton along Interstate 70. Governor Mike Kehoe and Google announced the investment in May 2026.
Project Scope
The hyperscale campus will support Google’s cloud and AI operations. It’s expected to create thousands of construction jobs during the buildout and hundreds of permanent operations roles once it enters service. It’s one of two data centers planned for the rural county; together with a neighboring Amazon campus, the two developments would cover nearly 2,000 acres.
Why It Matters
The project drops a metro-scale industrial load into a rural county, raising real questions about power, water and tax treatment that local officials are still working through. It also shows where construction demand is concentrated: hyperscalers are filling order books with data centers while much of the commercial market stays flat. The workforce to build it is the constraint, which is why the same tech giants are now funding skilled-trades training at scale.
