Most data centers get measured in megawatts. Stratos is being drawn up in gigawatts.
Infrastructure firm O’Leary Digital is developing the Stratos Hyperscale Data Center in Box Elder County, Utah, a campus planned at up to 7.5 gigawatts. Gensler is designing it. The site sits on land controlled by Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority, part of a 40,000-acre development zone in the state’s northwest desert.
Project Scope
At full buildout the campus would rank among the largest compute sites anywhere, phased over years as power and demand arrive. Utah’s cool, dry air eases cooling loads, and the MIDA land sidesteps some of the entitlement fights that slow data centers elsewhere.
Why It Matters
A 7.5 GW target is enormous, larger than the peak demand of some states, and it puts Utah on a short list of places chasing AI-scale campuses. The gating question is the one facing every hyperscaler: where the power comes from, and how fast it can be built.
