Boise’s airport is running out of room, and a $700 million building program aims to fix that. Boise Airport tapped Hensel Phelps as construction manager/general contractor for a package of terminal projects that runs through 2029, adding gates and concourse capacity at one of the fastest-growing mid-size airports in the country.
Project Scope
The program expands concourses, adds aircraft gates, and reworks the terminal’s ticketing and security flow to handle volumes that have outrun the original building. BOI has pushed past 4 million passengers a year, well above what the terminal was sized for. Delivering the work in phases lets the airport keep operating through construction, with each package sequenced around live gates and roadways. Hensel Phelps carries the CMGC role, pricing and building the phases as designs finalize.
Why It Matters
Boise has been one of the busier relocation destinations of the past few years, and its airport traffic shows it. The expansion isn’t about a signature terminal so much as catching up: more gates, shorter lines, and room for the airlines that keep adding flights. It also hands Hensel Phelps a multi-year anchor job in the Mountain West at a time when aviation work is one of the steadier corners of the market.
