CoStar Group made its name selling data about buildings. Now it’s finishing a big one of its own. The real-estate analytics company’s new Richmond headquarters rises 26 stories and about 750,000 square feet on the James River, with room for as many as 4,000 employees.
Project Scope
Pickard Chilton designed the riverfront tower, which expands CoStar’s growing Richmond campus and consolidates research and operations staff in Virginia. The building anchors a stretch of downtown riverfront the company has been steadily reshaping, and it came online in 2026.
Why It Matters
A 750,000-square-foot corporate headquarters is a rare thing to break ground on while much of the office market shrinks, which makes CoStar’s build a counter-cyclical bet on bringing people back to a desk. For Richmond, it lands one of the larger private office projects the city has seen in years and gives the riverfront a corporate anchor. It’s also a statement from a company whose whole business is reading where real estate is headed.
