CP2 LNG is Venture Global’s third Louisiana export terminal, rising on roughly 1,150 acres in Cameron Parish next to the company’s Calcasieu Pass plant. The first phase reached a final investment decision in 2025 backed by a record $15.1 billion financing, and the company expects first LNG production in late 2027.
Project Scope
Once complete, CP2 is designed to export more than 29 million metric tons of LNG a year, with room for further expansion. The build includes liquefaction trains, storage tanks and a marine facility on Monkey Island, plus the associated CP Express pipeline. More than 3,500 workers have been on site during peak civil work.
Why It Matters
CP2 would lift Venture Global’s export capacity by more than half and rank among the largest LNG projects in the world. A second phase is advancing toward its own investment decision, which would push the terminal’s total scope well above $28 billion.
