Puetz Construction, LLC

We are a family owned construction company located in St. Charles, MN. Puetz Construction, LLC was established in 2017 and is fully licensed and insured in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. We specialize in roofing, siding, windows and decks…with a few remodels sprinkled in each year, but only in the cold months. Our goal is to provide our clients with an unbeatable experience from the initial request to the final walkthrough. Thanks for checking us out!

Behind the company is Justin Puetz, who grew up on a farm near Utica, Minnesota, and learned the work remodeling houses with his dad and brothers over the winters. He played college football at Rochester Community and Technical College and then at St. Cloud State University, finishing a bachelor’s degree in real estate, and started contracting on the side while still in school. What pushed him to get licensed was watching how long Southern Minnesota homeowners waited, weeks and sometimes months, just to get someone out to bid a project. The company’s own FAQ dates the business to 2016.

The office sits at 153 W 6th St in St. Charles, and the Minnesota license number is BC727818. From there the crew covers Rochester, Winona, Mankato, Austin, Albert Lea, Owatonna and Red Wing, plus the rest of Southern Minnesota, with licensing in Wisconsin and Iowa as well.

Roofing is the core trade, but the list carries through siding, windows and doors, decks and patios, remodels and additions, new construction and commercial buildouts. Material choices are specific rather than open-ended: LP SmartSide engineered wood siding, CertainTeed asphalt shingles, Andersen and Hayfield windows, Trex decking and Avalon railing.

Intake is three steps and opens with a site visit for measurements and photographs, so the bid reflects the actual condition of the house rather than a phone description. Planning comes second, covering materials, services, colors and design, and construction third, with the company flagging up front that plans shift once work is underway and that communication through those changes is the point. Storm damage inspections are free, and Puetz will usually get out the same day or the next depending on the homeowner’s schedule. There is also an instant roof estimate tool on the site for a first number. Financing runs through FinTurf, and applying does not affect a credit score.

Three phrases carry the culture: Extreme Ownership, Grow or Die, and Whatever It Takes. The first is the one with teeth. The company says it will fix mistakes even when they are not its own.

Off the job site, Puetz supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a connection that began because Justin’s son Slater has cystic fibrosis. The company also partners with the St. Charles Touchdown Club and Wrestling Club.

Homeowners doing research first will find a blog on the site with long-form guides on the types of roof storm damage and what to do next, Hardie board siding costs and colors, and board and batten siding.
