The Connell Company

The Connell Company is a Berkeley Heights, N.J., family business that Grover Cleveland Connell started in 1926 as a rice and commodity brokerage on Wall Street. It’s a very different company now. Connell wound down its commodity lines after 2000 to focus on equipment leasing, hospitality and real estate development, and its biggest project’s at home. The firm is reworking its 185-acre former corporate park into The Park, a $500 million mixed-use redevelopment built around District Drive, a new main street lined with restaurants and wellness tenants. RT600, the second Round Table Residences apartment tower, topped out Oct. 28 with 149 units. SOCO Construction’s managing the job, and Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners designed it.
