Bradbury Stamm Construction

Bradbury Stamm Construction has been building in New Mexico since 1923. It’s an ENR Top 400, women-owned general contractor headquartered in Albuquerque, and it runs an Upper Midwest operation, Winkelman, out of St. Cloud, Minn. Work spans New Mexico, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado and Texas. The firm builds schools and campus buildings, government and healthcare facilities, recreation centers, housing and tribal projects. At the University of New Mexico, Bradbury Stamm knocked down the old humanities building in 2025 and is now building its $130.5 million replacement, the three-story, 80,728-square-foot Humanities & Social Sciences Building designed by Studio Tsien with SMPC Architects. Public universities don’t often spend that kind of money on the humanities. A century-old local builder is carrying it.

How the company contracts matters as much as what it builds. It takes work as construction manager, design builder or general contractor, and says its aim is to remain the choice in all three roles for clients, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers alike.

The project mix is wider than commercial building. Published categories cover commercial, community, education, government, healthcare, infrastructure, Native American, recreation and residential work, and the company specifically names public works, private developments, infrastructure, multi-unit living and solar among the project types it handles. Solar and infrastructure in the same portfolio as schools and healthcare is a sign of a builder that has followed public spending across sectors rather than specialising into one.

Two offices carry the geography. The Albuquerque headquarters is at 7110 2nd Street NW, on 505.765.1200. The Upper Midwest operation runs from St. Cloud, Minnesota, at 23823 67th Avenue, on 320.253.2411. Between them the company states it operates in New Mexico, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado and Texas.

Two descriptors from the company’s own site are worth separating, because they are often conflated. It is an ENR Top 400 builder, which is a revenue ranking, and it is a women-owned commercial builder, which is an ownership status that can matter for participation goals on public work. The company also describes itself as a family and community focused business, now past the century mark.

For anyone researching past work, the project archive is organised by those nine categories rather than by year, and the firm keeps a video channel under the handle BSC1923, a nod to the founding year. General enquiries go to the Albuquerque office.
