NV5 is an engineering, testing and consulting firm headquartered in Hollywood, Fla., with more than 100 offices in the U.S. and abroad. It plans, designs, tests, inspects, certifies and helps operate infrastructure and buildings, and its practices range from civil and utility engineering to building systems, commissioning, acoustics and geospatial data. Markets include transportation, water, education, healthcare, data centers and commercial property. NV5 merged with inspection company Acuren in 2025, and both now sit under parent TIC Solutions. The firm is on the development team for Chapter House UF, a 684-bed student housing project 908 Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. started in Gainesville, Fla., in October 2026; its specific scope wasn’t disclosed.
NV5 has grown mainly by buying other firms, and its own companies page documents more than 60 of them. The first was Bureau Veritas’ materials testing and geotechnical line, acquired in March 2010. Several of the practices folded in are far older than NV5 itself: Richard D. Kimball Company, now RDK Engineers, dates to 1897; Nolte Associates to 1957; WHPacific describes roots more than a century deep. Legacy names inside the business include CALYX, Quantum Spatial and JBA Consulting Engineers.
That history is the most useful thing to know about the company, because it explains the breadth. Roughly 5,000 consulting engineers, inspectors and analysts now work across geotechnical engineering and materials testing, MEP engineering, surveying and mapping, commissioning and smart building solutions, fire protection and life safety, environmental consulting, GIS and owner’s representative services.
Three segments organize it: Infrastructure Support, Buildings & Technology, and Geospatial. Geospatial is the least conventional of the three, covering defense and intelligence work, hydrospatial, lidar, and NV5’s own software products — the ENVI and IDL lines came from acquiring L3Harris’ Visual Information Solutions business, which closed in April 2023.
The firm claims first place in geospatial data services, international data centers and utility underground design, and publishes delivery figures to go with them: more than 1,000 miles of utility undergrounding, planning and oversight for over 400 EV projects, and a 52 million kWh reduction achieved through building analytics. It also states it was a founding contributor to development of the Envision Framework for Sustainable Infrastructure.
Recent work shows the geospatial side at national scale. In October 2026 NV5 announced a multi-year partnership with the CCCCC to deliver high-resolution lidar, creating what it describes as the Caribbean’s first consistent, comparable baseline for climate adaptation.
A merger with Acuren, a provider of non-destructive testing, inspection and mitigation services, has also been announced.
The offices directory returns 106 locations across 29 US states and twelve other countries — China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, the UAE, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. Project work is categorized across 15 markets, among them mission critical and data center, federal, science and technology, sports and recreation, and water and natural resources. A separate Training Academy runs at training.nv5.com, and a TIC Solutions brand operates at tics.com.
One inconsistency to be aware of when confirming an address: the company’s contact page gives Hollywood, Florida, while its offices page labels Houston, Texas as corporate headquarters.
