Davis Partnership Architects is a Denver design firm that traces its current form to 1967, with a lineage its leaders date back to 1892 under earlier names. It works out of a studio on Blake Street in the River North area and is one of the larger architecture practices in the Rocky Mountain West. Beyond architecture, it runs landscape architecture, interiors, lighting and wayfinding groups in-house. Healthcare and higher education anchor the portfolio, alongside civic and cultural, research, commercial, mixed-use and multifamily work; past credits include the Frederic C. Hamilton Building at the Denver Art Museum, done with Daniel Libeskind. Davis Partnership designed Craig Hospital’s roughly $250 million East Building expansion in Englewood, which topped out Sept. 24, 2026, with DPR Construction building it.
Repeat business above 90 percent is the statistic Davis Partnership publishes about itself, and for a firm with one office it is the most telling one.
The lineage is long. William E. Fisher opened a practice in downtown Denver in 1892. Arthur A. Fisher joined in 1905, forming Fisher and Fisher. Rodney S. Davis arrived in 1947, the firm became Fisher and Davis in 1959, then Rodney S. Davis & Associates in 1967, and took the Davis Partnership name in 1980. Early work included renovations of the Brown Palace, the Denver National Bank Building and the Denver Country Club — buildings that are still landmarks in the city.
Twelve partners lead it now, over a staff of 81 arranged across five tiers: 16 principals, four associate principals, 14 senior associates, 18 associates and 29 staff. Named directors cover healthcare (Darren Laging), higher education (Ben Hanlon), design (Patrick Lee) and staff development (Curtis Cox), with Caroline Nguyen as chief financial officer, Liz LoSasso as chief human resources officer and David McIntyre as chief information officer.
Seven disciplines are offered rather than the usual two or three — architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, lighting design, wayfinding and experiential design, site planning and programming. Lighting and wayfinding as in-house services is the part worth noting, since both are commonly subcontracted.
Healthcare is the deepest specialism, with more than 50 years of experience and an evidence-based design approach. The research and laboratory practice cites working expertise in NFPA 45, animal welfare regulations and bio-containment standards, which is the kind of detail that decides whether a firm can take on a vivarium or a containment suite at all.
On the museum side, Davis Partnership served as associate architect on the Denver Art Museum’s Hamilton Building with Studio Libeskind and on MCA Denver, designed by David Adjaye.
The built portfolio reads as a tour of the city: Saint Joseph Hospital for SCL Health, Union Denver, the Denver Milk Market at Dairy Block, The ART hotel, the Colorado Health Foundation headquarters, Colorado Christian University’s Anschutz Student Center, City of Boulder Fire Station #3, and the Freyer-Newman Center at Denver Botanic Gardens. Current work includes Border Rural Health Community Hospital, Snowmass Base Village Buildings 10A and 10B, The Avant, and Evans School East and West.
Recent recognition: Ann Adams became the firm’s first AIA Fellow in March 2026, The Hunter received a 2026 ULI Impact Award, and the Anythink Nature Library opened in August 2026. The firm also administers the Rodney Davis Traveling Scholarship.
