D.A. Everett Construction Group

D.A. Everett Construction Group is a construction management and general contracting firm headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Donovan Everett founded the company in Raleigh in 2013 and later moved its headquarters to Charlotte. It now has offices in Raleigh, Atlanta, New York and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The firm handles preconstruction, renovations and ground-up work for automotive, commercial, healthcare, higher education, K-12, life science, government and sports clients. In a joint venture with Turner Construction, D.A. Everett ran the $245 million Spectrum Center renovation in Charlotte, staging the work around Hornets seasons and finishing in October 2025. The firm is Black-owned.

The firm organises its work into eight verticals, and the list is a fair map of where a growing construction manager can compete: automotive, commercial, healthcare, higher education, K-12, life science, public assembly and government, and sports and entertainment. Life science and automotive sit beside K-12 and civic work, which is a wider spread than most firms of comparable age attempt.

Preconstruction is where the detail lives. The published scope covers site evaluation and site logistics planning, constructability analysis, cost consulting, value management analysis, LEED analysis, baseline schedule development, construction estimating, budgeting and planning, and virtual design and construction using building information modelling. An owner reading that list can see the firm expects to be engaged before drawings are final, not handed a complete set to price.

Recognition has followed the public work. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services headquarters campus took the 2026 ENR Southeast Best Government/Public Building award, and the firm has separately been recognised for workforce development – a theme that shows up again in how it describes its culture, built around inclusion, safety and employees contributing ideas as full members of a team.

The firm publishes a licences page and maintains a trade partner portal, which is the practical route in for subcontractors wanting to bid its work. Given offices across Raleigh, Atlanta, New York and the U.S. Virgin Islands from a Charlotte base, subcontractor coverage varies by market, so confirming which office holds a given pursuit is worth doing early.

Stated values are specific enough to be checkable: executing what the firm is hired to do safely and every time, having the courage to do what is right without compromising the trust of employees, teammates, clients, subcontractors or partners, and respect for teammates, partners and peers. For an owner weighing a mid-size construction manager against a national firm on a healthcare or higher-education job, the useful comparison is depth of preconstruction staffing against the national firm’s bench – and this firm publishes enough of its own process to make that conversation concrete.
